Psalms 37:4 reveals that as we delight in the Lord, he will give us the desire of our heart. The word for delight here means to bend toward or be inclined toward.  As you incline yourself toward the desires that God places in your heart, he will provide what you need to make those desires happen.  As the new year begins, no matter how good or bad is was, I know you desire the next one to be better.   You are setting  goals and creating your vision board based on the desires of your heart. You are motivated to make it your best year ever!  Now make time to delight in the Lord and watch it happen.  I'm delighted you are joining me as we dedicate the first part of this new decade to delighting in the Lord. Starting January 1, we will look at scriptures that instruct and encourage us on what delighting in the Lord looks like.  And we will discover what delights Him (spoiler alert-you are what delights Him).  The blogs will be a short read but each day has a Exercise in Delight includ…

Day 1-His Perfect Plan

You have a part in Gods perfect plan.  He has chosen you to be adopted as his delightful child  through your union with Jesus.  His plan is your deliverance and salvation, to lavish you with His love and grace.  The blood of Jesus paid the penalty for your sin and resulted in your forgiveness and complete pardon.  With this grace and love, He gives you wisdom and practical insight to His will and purpose for your life.  By accepting this grace and love, you bring him great pleasure. Without you, our family would be incomplete and God's pleasure not full.  So I want to thank you for accepting Jesus and His plan.  I add my voice to Paul's as we pray for you for the upcoming new year.
From Ephesians 1:15-19 & Ephesians 3:16-19  I don't stop thanking God for you—every time I pray, I think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your ey…

Day 2-Decades of Delight

As we journey into a new year and a new decade I believe the prayer Moses prayed In Psalms 90 should be our prayer. 12 Help us to remember that our days are numbered, and help us to interpret our lives correctly. Set your wisdom deeply in our hearts so that we may accept your correction. 13 Return to us again, O God! How much longer will it take until you show us your abundant compassion? 14 Let the sunrise of your love end our dark night. Break through our clouded dawn again! Only you can satisfy our hearts, filling us with songs of joy to the end of our days. 15 We’ve been overwhelmed with grief; come now and overwhelm us with gladness. Replace our years of trouble with decades of delight. 16 Let us see your miracles again, and let the rising generation see the glorious wonders you’re famous for. 17 O Lord our God, let your sweet beauty rest upon us and give us favor. Come work with us, and then our works will endure, and give us success in all we do.
This is my desire for the upcoming y…

Day 3-Decorated with Salvation

The word for delight used here is the Hebrew word rō·w·ṣeh which means to be pleased with; specifically, to satisfy a debt -- (be) accept(-able), accomplish, set affection, approve, consent with, delight (self), enjoy, (be, have a) favor(-able), like, observe, pardon, (be, have, take) please(-ure), reconcile self When you accepted Jesus, you went from just being plain folk to one who delighted God so much that he decorates you with salvation garland!  When I picture that in my mind, I see the garland like the lei's they put around your neck in Hawaii. That garland in made from flowers, but your salvation garland is made from everything Jesus made available for you at the cross.  Its flowers are righteousness, wisdom, love, joy, peace, healing, prosperity and every favor and earthly blessing.  I see God laughing as He puts one lei garland around your neck after another, until you are covered in His delight.  All I can see is blessing after blessing that has been placed on you, so …

Day 4-Clean Slate

God delights in showing us mercy and loving kindness. He not only shows us mercy and loving kindness, He takes extreme pleasure in doing so.  The Message Translation shows us what this looks like.  He wipes the slate clean of guilt.  He turns a blind eye and a deaf ear to our past sins.  He stamps out our wrongdoing and sinks our sins to the bottom of the ocean.  He doesn't nurse his anger, but shows us mercy and compassion. Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward us when it is in God's power to punish or harm.  It is a blessing of divine favor toward us.  We don't receive mercy because of anything we have done,  it is a pure gift of love from the Father through to blood of Jesus.   While salvation is a one time gift, He gives his mercy and loving kindness continuously. It makes God happy, not just happy but extremely happy, to show us this mercy. We should do the same for ourselves and others. As we start a new year, we need to accept that the past is the past.  …

Day 5-Holy Lovers

As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.” NKJV So I said to the Lord God, “You are my Maker, my Mediator, and my Master. Any good thing you find in me has come from you.” And he said to me, “My holy lovers are wonderful, my majestic ones, my glorious ones, fulfilling all my desires.”  TPT
When you accepted Jesus, you became an excellent one who God delights in. You were created to fulfill all his desires.  Can you wrap your head around that?  By becoming His holy lover, you are someone who gives Him great pleasure. But what does it mean to be a holy lover? To be a holy lover is to make the choice to be one.  It takes a commitment of time and energy to become intimate with God.To be a holy lover is walking with the Lord every minute of every day.  Everything you do will draw you closer to him or put up stumbling blocks to that intimate relationship. To be a holy lover is to celebrate the gift that God gave to us; Jesus.  It is only…

Day 6-God is Singing to You

Your God is present among you,     a strong Warrior there to save you. Happy to have you back, he’ll calm you with his love     and delight you with his songs. MSG

The Lord your God is in the midst of you,  a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction]  and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.  AMPC
Did you know God is singing to you? He sings quite songs to calm you and assure you of His presence. Like a father who sings a love a bye to his restless child, our Father is singing to you.  The sound of His song comforts you with His love and  protection. He sings song of joy and deliverance over you.  These are encouraging and bring hope to your spirit and soul. Sometimes He let's you know what song He's singing.  You may here it in a scripture you read. You may hear it at church. You may hear it in a song on the radio or tv. Last …
