Day 4-Clean Slate

God delights in showing us mercy and loving kindness.  He takes extreme pleasure in doing so.
The Message Translation shows us what this looks like. Micha 7:18-20
Where is the god who can compare with you—
wiping the slate clean of guilt,
Turning a blind eye, a deaf ear,
to the past sins of your purged and precious people?
You don’t nurse your anger and don’t stay angry long,
for mercy is your specialty. That’s what you love most.
And compassion is on its way to us.
    You’ll stamp out our wrongdoing.
You’ll sink our sins
to the bottom of the ocean.
You’ll stay true to your word to Father Jacob
and continue the compassion you showed Grandfather Abraham—
Everything you promised our ancestors
    from a long time ago.
Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward you when it is in God's power to punish or harm.  It is a blessing of divine favor. You won't receive mercy because of anything you have done, it is a pure gift of love from the Father through the blood of Jesus.  While salvation is a one-time gift, He continuously gives mercy and loving kindness.  Psalms 23 says His mercy and goodness are new every morning.  You start each day with a fresh dose of mercy and goodness!
It makes God happy, no, not just happy but extremely happy, to show you this mercy. And since He has given it to you, He expects you to happily extend mercy and loving kindness to yourself and others.
The past is the past.  God is delighted to forget it and start you over with a clean slate.  Don't stand in His way by holding on to past failures or successes.   He is looking forward to new ways of expressing His lovingkindness to you.

Wipe your slate clean.  Take a chalkboard and write down all your failures and sins of the past.  If you don't have chalk and a chalkboard, use a pencil and paper.  Pray and ask forgiveness for each one-THEN ERASE it.  God chooses not to acknowledge them anymore so you shouldn't either.  Make today a fresh start and be ready to experience the new God has in store for you.
