Day 22-Make Our Home With You

We are starting part three of our series, 31 Days of Delight. In part one, we explored what delights God. In part two, we studied what we can do to bring Him delight. Now we will discover some of the rewards we receive when we delight in Him.

John 14:23 TPT Jesus replied, "Loving me empowers you to obey my word. And my Father will love you so deeply that we will come to you and make you our dwelling place.
The phrase, dwelling place, means abode or residence. The King James Version calls it home.
Webster's dictionary defines home like this:
   Home:
  •  A place where one lives especially as a family
  •  A place of affection, joy, and happiness
  • A valued refuge and resting place
  • A habitation offering security and protection, where friendships flourish
As you delight in the Lord, God takes up residence in you. They make you their home. You become a valued refuge and resting place for them. They offer security and protection for you.
All the joy and happiness that comes with them, living in you, bubbles out into every other area of your life.
Imagine Jesus living with you in your house. In the morning, you would probably have coffee together and share your plans for the day. He might help make supper or help with the dishes. In the evening, you would kick back in your recliners or snuggle on the couch. He'd laugh at your jokes, tease you a little bit, and hold you when you cry. And you do the same for Him. He's open and honest, friendly and fun, so the longer you live together, the better friends you become.
Everything you just imagined: you have that. As a born-again believer, the Father, along with Jesus, and the Holy Spirit has decided to live in you. They want to settle down at home with you. Are you ready to share it with them?

Exercise in Delight:  Take a few minutes and imagine God living with you in your house.  What would you do differently?  What advantages would you have?

Extra Delight:   “I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at home in his love. John 15: 7-10 MSG
