Day 25-Correction

Proverbs 3:11-12 AMP
My son, do not reject or take lightly the discipline of the Lord,
(learn from your mistakes and the testing that comes from His correction through discipline); Nor despise His rebuke, for those whom the Lord loves, He corrects,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

One of the rewards of delighting in the Lord is receiving His correction.  Let's get something straight from the beginning of this-God never uses punishment to correct us.  Jesus already took all the punishment God had to dish out.  However, your actions can lead you into circumstances that feel like you are being punished.
Let's face it.  We all need correction from time to time in our life. We are humans living in a fallen world. Being corrected by God doesn't mean He is mad at you.  Just the opposite—He cares for you too deeply to allow you to continue in a direction He knows is not good for you.
The Bible tells of several ways that God corrects us.
  • Through Scripture-2 Timothy 3:16-17
  • By being in the presence of God:  Isaiah 6:5
  • Through the ministry of the Holy Spirit: John 14:26
  • Through the five-fold Ministry:  2 Timothy 4:2
  • Through fellow Christians:  James 5:19-20
  • Through dreams and visions:  Numbers 12:6
And Job 33:14-16 tells us He speaks more than once and in more than one way. He will not give up on you even if it takes your whole lifetime.
Job 33:14-16  (AMPC)
14 For God [does reveal His will; He] speaks not only once, but more than once, even though men do not regard it [including you, Job].
15 [One may hear God’s voice] in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men while slumbering upon the bed,
16 Then He opens the ears of men and seals their instruction [terrifying them with warnings],

Pause for a minute and thank God for being a loving Father     who will correct you.
Is He warning you about something in your life?   Remember   He doesn’t use punishment to correct you.  The Holy Spirit   convicts you to correct you.
If He lets you know an area that needs correcting, repent and ask for His help to change it.  There will be no condemnation or shame, just peace, love, and joy.
