Day 16-Seize Life




Ecclesiastics 9:7-9 MSG
Seize life! Eat bread with gusto,
Drink wine with a robust heart.
Oh yes—God takes pleasure in your pleasure!
Dress festively every morning.
Don’t skimp on colors and scarves.
Relish life with the spouse you love
Each and every day of your precarious life.
Each day is God’s gift. It’s all you get in exchange
For the hard work of staying alive.
Make the most of each one!
Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily!

We are halfway through our 31 Days of Delight. I hope you're having fun!
 In this section, we are talking about things we do that delight the Lord. Today's verse from the Message Bible gives us some very clear and surprising instructions on delighting Him.
  • Eat with gusto
  • Drink with a robust heart
  • Dress festive
  • Relish life
  • Make the most of each day.  You only get one chance at each day, so grab it and go for it. 
So often guilt and shame try to stop us from enjoying our life.   Our self-talk says you shouldn't enjoy that piece of pie because sugar is bad for you.  You can't sit down and relax with a nice cuppa because there is too much to do.  You're too old or young to do that, whatever it is.
But that is not God's plan.  The Amplified Bible says if you are righteous, wise, and in the hands of God, go your way with joy and a cheerful heart.  Each day is a gift for us to enjoy.  He wants us to seize the life we are blessed with, living each day to the fullest with Him.  He has surprises and adventures planned, and abundant blessings to pour out on you.  Why?  Because that is what makes Him happy, Seeing you enjoy the "little things" in your life delights Him.

Take time to really enjoy the blessing God has given.  Snap a few pictures, savor your food, and put your favorite outfit on just because.  Make an intentional effort to take pleasure in your life today and share your delight with the Lord.

Day 3-Decorated with Salvation

The word for delight used here is the Hebrew word rō·w·ṣeh which means to be pleased with; specifically, to satisfy a debt -- (be) accept(-able), accomplish, set affection, approve, consent with, delight (self), enjoy, (be, have a) favor(-able), like, observe, pardon, (be, have, take) please(-ure), reconcile self When you accepted Jesus, you went from just being plain folk to one who delighted God so much that he decorates you with salvation garland!  When I picture that in my mind, I see the garland like the leis they put around your neck in Hawaii. That garland is made from flowers, but your salvation garland is made from everything Jesus made available for you at the cross.  Its flowers are righteousness, wisdom, love, joy, peace, healing, prosperity, and every favor and earthly blessing.  I see God laughing as He puts one lei garland around your neck after another until you are covered in His delight.  All I can see is blessing after blessing that has been placed on you, so
